We had a party for her on saturday, 22 children, an inflatable slide, bouncy castle, big hall and lots of cake, a good time was had by all I think. I hardly spoke to anyone and didnt get to see a lot of it as I was putting up banners and plating up party food while himself "helped" the children on the slide, obviously this just means he got to play in it for an hour while I ran about mental, still, he had fun bless him.

On sunday we were visited by the inlaws who thankfully did not bring a mass of presents as they had paid for the hall hire for the party. Milly was complately overwhelmed with all her new toys by this point so I was glad she didnt receive any more. She was completely spoiled rotten by her friends and by us I admit, my house now looks like a toy shop. She was given 2 Bratz doll things though so I feel they may have to be lost somewhere.

All in all though, a good weekend. Today I have spent all afternoon building bunkbeds with my lovely friend Y who is moving her 2 girls into the same room, it was quite amusing although Im not sure how someone can put dowels in the wrong hole quite so many times. Theyre built now though and hopefully the girls will stay put tonight for her. Im sure I will end up pretty sore tomorrow as the physio did tell me on monday that I was to rest, oops.

SPD

So Im going to quit my placement tomorrow. My SPD has got horrific over the weekend, to the point that I cant even alk around the supermarket as Im in too much pain. Sitting down is uncomfortable, so is lying down, so is walking. Im going to call the physio tomorrow and get an appointment but I dont know what they will be able to do, possibly crutches which worries me.

I have a meeting at uni on tuesday to discuss my options for making it up when I return from mat leave, not to worried about it, they've emailed and said that my first priority is to ensure my health and to worry about placement later, I will be continuing with the academic side as I reckon I will manage to get into class and sit for an hour or so without being any worse than being at home. Heres hoping.

Mum is coming up on friday for the weekend which will be good, its Millys birthday sunday so think she will be pleased to have Gran here too, thinking of taking her to get a haircut in the morning of her party, it needs done anyway and they will be able to get her curls looking nice. I want her to be pretty fo the pictures, not that shes not always pretty!

Off to watch X Factor now, more another day.

This little piggy went to market...

Milly has been a nightmare this week. Every day she goes to nursery she is crying and crying when we drop her off. It doesnt seem to matter who takes her, she cries for about 20 minutes after we leave everyday. Ganted after those 20 minutes she is happy happy all day and tells us when she gets home what a lovely day she has had. Doesnt stop me crying in the car all the way to work though.

Aah work, placement is going OK but Ive barely been there, on wednesday (first day) they sent me home after 4 hours as I "didnt look like I was coping". Im pregnant, tired and sore from the SPD but I can just about manage! I worked yesterday but it was a 12 hour shift and after 8 hours my back was agony. Today I went in for a study day on ventilation which finished at 1.30 so I skipped off home then.

My dad sent me some money today for Milly's birthday so I got her 2 pairs of pyjamas and 3 dressing up costumes from him. She will be getting snow white, tinkerbell and a high school musical cheerleader outfit. P does not approve of the HSM one but she will love it. So thats from dad. I think she'll be chuffed this year, she will get a good haul and is having a party so will no doubt get presents from the kids who come to that. May have to get her the Snow White DVD though now she has the outfit, shes never seen it but her friend S has the same dress and she always wants to wear it when she goes to play.

ICU is very quiet at the moment, apparently scotland is going to be hit by H1N1 shortly, infact there are already 8 ICU beds in glasgow taken up by these patients, as an aside, I wonder how many ICU beds glasgow has? Cant be that many. Anyway, the hospital Im working in is ideal for barrier nursing and has 2 ICU's so will no doubt get filled with swine flu patients, Ive had it I on if all the staff are desperatly trying to cope with a huge influx of patients. Will worry about think so not overly concerned, however dont want it again and doubt much learning will be going this later me thinks.

Familys

Spent sunday night at the inlaws with my SIL and BIL to be. Theyre both lovely people but my goodness they just dont think sometimes! We had arranged to go over with the samll one to spend some time with them before they move back to Canada in 2 weeks. BIL showed up at 5pm and went for a nap so saw Milly for about 30 mins and SIL didnt return from her weekend away until almost 9pm, so long after bedtime! I appreciate that she was away on a hen weekend but if she wasnt going to be back then why not just say that sunday wasnt good for her and we could have arranged something else, instead I spent my sunday driving and explaining why Auntie Katie wasnt home.

We did have a nice evening when they got there, nice dinner and they all had some wine (I was on the alcohol free cider, lucky me!) They did take M to the park the next day and spent some time telling her about Canada so Im glad we went in the end. Millys take on things? "Auntie Katie is going to Canada, Im going to visit her (really? whos paying?) you go on a plane, it takes a long lomg time but theres videos to watc and you get your lunch!" Shes been sold on that one then!

Its my mums birthday today, her card and present havent arrived yet though so i feel bad although I did ring her so she knows I remembered. Its a shame I cant see her but 140 miles is a long way for a coffee and she will be her in 2 weeks for Millys birthday so we can catch up then.

Dad has wound me up by posting on facebook "would like a chat if youre online for more than 2 minutes." CALL ME ON THE PHONE!! Its not hard is it? Hes back in the UK today so assume he will ring then if its important, although he has now text to ask when baby #2 is due so maybe thats what he wanted to talk about.

On another note I start my ICU placement tomorrow so will be spending this afternnon reading up on ventilation and cardiac monitoring so I dont look like a complete idiot, I hope they let me sit down, Im 29 weeks gone today!

Hello out there!

Not too sure what I want to get out of this, perhaps in the hope that someone out there is listening to my inane witterings, or maybe just to contribute something as Ive been reading other mums blogs for some time now.

Either way, here I am, I may or may not have something interesting to say soon...
